Dublin Movements, April 1978

Industrial action by Aer Lingus clerical workers continued and this brought a variety of carriers in to maintain at least a limited schedule. There were of course many charter companies in existence and it was not yet summer, so there was capacity available, I expect. As can be seen, Dan-Air Comets appeared on several occasions and I don’t think the type was seen much more at Dublin, after this flurry of activity. G-BDIU and G-BDIV were former RAF Comet 4Cs and as such were probably a good purchase by Dan-Air, as they had no doubt been well looked-after in their military days. The French Noratlas was visiting on one of their sporadic navigation training flights; 170 was broken up after retirement but its cut-down fuselage pod survived in private hands for many years in Les Regnacs, near Bergerac, in France. 1 April      D-ABEC          B737-130             ...
